Our Mission

To develop a skilled healthcare workforce and sustain partnerships and programs that enhance health care access and delivery in Idaho’s ten central counties, with a focus on primary and preventative care for rural and underserved health populations.

Our Vision

SC Idaho AHEC envisions a future of high-quality healthcare services where empowered health professionals and inspired students drive innovative solutions that transform health care access and well-being in rural and underserved communities.

About AHEC

As a designated Idaho AHEC, established in 2024, Family Health Services is dedicated to bridging gaps in healthcare access and addressing workforce needs across rural Idaho. We focus on connecting students, professionals, and communities through innovative, hands-on experiences. Our role as an AHEC allows us to:

We partner with regional schools and community organizations to inspire interest in health professions through hands-on, innovative programs like ‘Hands-On Health Care’, ‘Doc for a Day’, and ‘AHEC of a Class’. For current health profession students, we offer opportunities to explore rural and underserved communities, participate in interprofessional training, and develop their skills through initiatives such as the ‘AHEC Scholars Program’.
